Large Reconstruction Project with Extensive Architectural Renovations
One of the largest and most intricate school reconstruction projects in Navillus’s history, P.S. 48 called for extensive architectural renovations.
The New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) commissioned Navillus to restore the building’s delicate glass fiber reinforced concrete, precast panels, and decorative architectural elements, including gargoyles and finials. This included the complete removal of the exterior wythe of the school, all performed while it was occupied. Navillus also replaced more than 400,000 bricks and crenellated copings throughout the structure
